Response to the National Council on Teacher Quality
On Tuesday, June 18, in partnership with U.S. News & World Report, the National Council on Teacher Quality will release the first edition of the NCTQ Teacher Prep Review. This review will comprise evaluations of university and college-based teacher preparation programs. Programs from various institutions throughout South Carolina will be included in the review.
The attached response letter provides a frame of reference for concerns and issues relevant to the NCTQ report. As a state chapter affiliate of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), our role is to represent national and local perspectives and experiences. Please refer to the AACTE website for an Institutional NCTQ Response Kit that recommends an even more specific response action plan.
CCSS Trainings and SPA Report Writing WorkshopsIn February 2012, SCACTE will be partnering with the South Carolina Department of Education to provide two CCSS Trainings for higher education faculty. The Trainings will be offered at the SCDE offices in on Forrest Drive, Columbia.

SPA Report Writing WorkshopsIn March and April, 2012, SCACTE will be partnering with the South Carolina Department of Education to provide ELCC, ACEI, and NAEYC SPA Report Writing Workshops for higher education faculty in the fields of Educational Leadership, Elementary Education, and Early Childhood Education. These workshops will also be offered at the SCDE offices in on Forrest Drive, Columbia.
